Posted on February 10, 2014 at 7:25 PM

Springfield’s Historic Cannon Ball House, located at 126 Morris Ave., will be open on Sunday, February 16th  from 2-4pm.  In honor of it being Presidents’ Day weekend, a letter that George Washington wrote from Springfield during the Revolutionary War will be exhibited.  Re-enactors from the Third Brigade of the American Revolution will be present and showing their respect for “the Father of Our Country,” by  standing guard over the letter.

In addition to the Washington letter, there are other examples of penmanship on display at the Cannon Ball House.  These will include a letter signed by President Herbert Hoover and the continuing Civil War correspondence of Wellington Briant.  To pursue these letters and see other artifacts on exhibit,  join us one day shy of Presidents’ Day at the Cannon Ball House.

Hours:          Sunday, February 16th from 2 to 4

Admission:  $2 for adults, free for children 12 and under

Note:  We will not be open Presidents’ Day itself
